The Lyle “Dane” Floyd Scholarship
The Lyle “Dane” Floyd Scholarship through the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Center
for Great Futures is pleased to offer a $1,500 scholarship to college-bound high school seniors based on academic achievement, extracurricular & community involvement, and financial need.
Criteria
Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who reside in Lawrence, Kansas;
are active members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence, KS; and intend to further their
education at an accredited college/university or approved trade school. Consideration will be given to applicants who are able to provide demonstration of academic achievement,
participation in extracurricular activities, community involvement, and financial need. Students will submit a 250 word essay along with a completed scholarship application.
Guidelines
The scholarship will be awarded on a one-time basis and disbursed in August.
Students must have a minimum of a 3.5 grade-point average with accompanied high school transcript for verification. Letter of acceptance into a college, university, or trade school is required. The scholarship awarded will be a minimum of $1,500 to be paid in one installment directly to the college, university, or trade school.
Deadline
The application period to submit an application begins March 1st. The application
deadline is April 15th. The deadline is the date after which applications will no longer be
accepted. The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence uses the postmarked date to determine mailed entries. The recipient of the Lyle Dane Floyd Scholarship will be announced on May 1st.
Renewal Process
This scholarship is not renewable. Only high school seniors intending to enroll in an accredited college, university or trade school are eligible to apply. Previous scholarship recipients cannot re-apply.
