  • Increase utilization of organizational management systems

Strategies

A) Board Evaluation
  1. With assistance from a professional facilitator, discuss and redefine the role of the board from a management style board to a visionary board focused on equity, governance, long term financial, strategic planning, and resource development.
  2. Conduct an assessment to understand and identify the skills, diversity and expertise needed on the board in order to effectively fulfill the organizational mission.
  3. Board development committee will conduct an annual board self-assessment to evaluate board performance and effectiveness
  4. Utilize a board assessment tool such as a performance scorecard to provide direction.
B) Board Recruitment
  1. Develop a strategy for the identification and recruitment of new board members based on areas of expertise needed to build a stronger board, including, but not limited to resource development, finance and diversity (the board should represent the community in which the Club serves).
C) Board Leadership Development
  1. Facilitate individual board member leadership development through board member participation in Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Spillett Leadership University and the School of Board Leadership as well as a peer board mentor.
