Strategies

Increase Visibility of Youth of the Year

  1. 75% of local government officials attend Youth of the Year 
  2. 75% of current community partners attend at Youth of the Year  
  3. Collaborating with partners such as USD 497 to expand distribution of event details and accessibility to diverse populations to ensure maximum event exposure
    1. Committing to ensure a welcoming environment so that all parties will experience a sense of belonging
    2. Consider extending targeted invites to a small group of youth/families from each school/program site

Establish Youth Development as a Community Imperative in Douglas County

  1. Strengthen Community Partnerships
    1. Incorporating BGCLK in community-wide initiatives not only as it pertains to youth development programming, but also overall strategy, economic development, and financial support of non-profit agencies
  2. The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce will incorporate youth development as part of its economic strategy

Engage in Advocacy to Promote Awareness

A) Develop annual advocacy plan
B) Provide advocacy training for staff and board members.
C) Engage with State Alliance to continue advocacy efforts
