Kenita Jarrett was named the Area Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Kennedy and Cordley sites in 2016. A familiar face at BGC, Kenita joined the Movement in August 2010 and immediately started working her way up. She was a group leader at East Heights before earning the Program Manager position at Kennedy. From there, she was promoted to a Senior Program Manager where she oversaw three BGC sites while running her own at Kennedy.
Her talent lies not only in building strong programs and increasing enrollment, but also in promoting and marketing the Club. Kenita earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Business (2011) from the University of Kansas and completed an additional degree in Computer Tech and Web Development (2015). With a strong background in design, she volunteers her talents as the Marketing Assistant at the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence when her schedule allows.
Kenita claims the KC Metro area, where she currently lives, is better than Lawrence for out-of-work activities… but she does love to catch a game in Allen Fieldhouse. Not surprisingly, since her brother-in-law is KU great, Aaron Miles. Kenita lives in Kansas City with her pup, Coco, and spends lot of time with her nieces and nephews.
Best advice you have ever gotten from a Club kid:
“To grow up.” ( I never took that advice, though!)
